Drilling Reamer Ⅱ
This drilling reamer enables the operator to simultaneously drill and ream generally below the casing.
The reamer blocks are hydraulically actuated. Hydraulic differential pressure acts on a piston that drives the cutter blocks open.
When the piston chamber opens for cutter block deployment, the drilling fluid will flow out of the jet nozzles, providing a pressure drop that indicates at the surface that the reamer is open.
Applications
Shoe-track drilling when cement must be cleared from casing
Post-shoe-track drilling in formations that require enhanced stabilization
Hole enlargement while drilling
The reamer has achieved success in a wide range of challenging applications, including
- Directional drilling
- Extended-reach drilling
- Strong back-reaming capability
- Highly abrasive formations
Advantages
Reliable hydraulic actuation to ensure a full-gauge concentric wellbore
Dependable cutter block retraction to avoid stuck BHAs
Aggressive PDC cutter blocks for higher ROP in a wide range of formation types
Integral backreaming capability to ensure construction of a full-diameter bore
Integrated jet nozzle and flow paths to improve cleanout while drilling
